Site director and deconstruction technical advisor, EDF

TOPIC

Challenges to be addressed as a client

SYNOPSIS

EDF has decided to go greener in its energetic mix since the beginning of 2000.

To achieve the reduction of fossil fuel power plants, it has already implemented the deconstruction of 10 power plants, and still has a programme for the next 15 years to decommission the equivalent of 11 GW of power plants.

Considering the high risk of this type of activities, the constant evolution of the regulation regarding waste and hazardous materials, and the technical challenges onsite, how can a client organise itself to address this type of decommissioning programme?

As a specifier, what are the main issues to prepare a contract, select a contractor, and keep a relationship with all the contractors to always improve and focus on safety results?

This presentation will highlight the main technical and organisational challenge that EDF must address to perform such a decommissioning programme.

The presentation will also include examples of onsite realisation and co-working with contractors.
